Frank McKinney was Indiana's second NCAA swimming
champion, taking top honors in the 100 and 200 backstroke in 1959. William T.
Woolsey had won the 220 and 440 freestyle in both 1956 and 1957. McKinney made
history of his own in 1960 when he led off the 400 medley relay, the first
Indiana relay to be crowned NCAA Champions. Individually, he finished second in
the 100 backstroke and third in the 200 backstroke that year. He was inducted
into the IU Hall of Fame in 1982.
