I began diving for the IAC the summer of 1947. In the years that followed, I won ten Indiana State AAU Diving Championships and about 10 Indianapolis City Championships. While in Indianapolis, I worked next door to the IAC, at the Indiana Rating Bureau and lived at the YMCA on Illinois Street, before I was married. In 1957, I received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Indiana University Law School in Indianapolis.
I married Doris Rock in 1954. She swam for the IAC from 1953 to 1955, when we moved to New York City.
I dived for the New York Athletic Club and placed 22nd in the National AAU three meter championship in 1958. From 1959 to 1966, I dived for the Houston Shamrock Club and placed 3rd in the Texas State 10 meter championships in 1960. In the 1980's I began diving in the U.S. Masters National Championships and won the 3 meter event in 1989.
