I started diving at Riviera in 1955, commuting from Fort Wayne on weekends, and staying with the Galvich Family in the summers, so I could train under John Galvich. I won several diving meets throughout the mid-west including the Indiana State three meter Championship.
I continued that for 3 years before going to Purdue and training with Richard Pappenguth for two years. I remember "Pappy" took me to the Pan Am Trials where I made the finals, and to my last diving event which was the 1960 Nationals in Indianapolis.
I returned to the water in 1997 in Masters Swimming. I've won several National events and currently hold Indiana records in every event except the 50 breaststroke in both Short Course and Long Course. Last year I was named a USMS All American for winning my age group in the One Mile Open Swim.
